The rebirth of weave

Hello friends and lovers of the Random Weave. I know it has been over 3 years since my last post. But now I am back. I am setting a goal this year to try and post at least once a week on this blog. I may not always have a fun weave picture. But I am sure I will have something to say randomweaves. I also hope to interview my friend and Master Weaveologist Michael. Who is currently touring the country with Jersey Boys and changing lives one wig at a time.

But enough about what I am going to be doing with the blog and on to the first post. About you see what I consider to be sheer brilliance from the good folks at Disney. Actually, I am pretty sure that Disney did not make these. But whatever, let's give that mouse the credit. Last week my friend Chris sent me a link to the photo above. It appears to be a Disney Princess extensions. Now, I know what you are thinking: Who in their right mind would get something like this put in their hair? And to that I say WHO WOULDN'T? Personally I am already a fan of the Ariel extension, the pink one. Not the black one, the black would blend in my hair and the pink would REALLY stand out. So ladies, next time you go out and want to get some extensions I think you should ask if they have the Disney in stock.

In order to keep this blog going I am going to need to reach out to you my readers. Over the years people have continued to send me photos of hair weaves they randomly find on the ground. They are everywhere. Not that I have told you this you will see. Just this past Monday I was walking through Civic Center with my friend Cecilio and I came across this gem (see below). I got so excited as I knew I was going to be posting this week. But upon further inspection, Cecilio pointed out that it was a lanyard. Please note rope, lanyards, and any thing not a weave does not count. I will count wigs. But feel free to send the photos to me via text or email: randomweaves@gmail.com. Include any information that should be included in the post like location, condition of weave, how you think it got there? Anything.

Extra! Extra! Weave all about it!

Ha! Weave puns never get old to me.

Happy Friday fellow weave enthusiasts. Can I say everytime I see last weeks post - Project Concern I still laugh a little. Ok, on to new weave. This first weave above came to me from my friend Jack this morning. He found in on a construction site near 16th and Valencia in San Francisco. You can clearly see the tracks on this weave. And this is always a personal favorite. That means that weave was not in tight. Weave needs to be in tight I am talking Beyonce - Lose My Breath tight.

Or that means that someone was walking home with fresh weave to get their hair did and this fell out of the bag. Which is sad cause that is a waste of money and good weave. The last option means that someone was working at the construction site and something snagged and pulled that weave right off their head. And to that I say OUCH.

This next weave was sent to me via text from my favorite cousin Jessica. My Uncle sent it to her and wanted to make sure that I saw it. It was the 1st weave he has seen. And it was on the corner of Silver Ave and San Bruno in the city. I think my favorite thing about your 1st weave spotting is that you suddenly become more apparent of weave and you will now see it everywhere. TRUST!

I can't really tell what is going here with this weave. It is a whole mess of weave and it looks like it was rained on. So I guess it is sorta like a weave puddle. Watch your step, you don't want to get your shoes weaved.

PROJECT CONCERN

PROJECT CONCERN: http://sandrarose.com/2009/11/19/who-knew-they-made-lacefronts-wigs-for-babies/

This story was sent to me by a couple of friends (Thanks Matt and Maria). This woman felt that her baby should be glamorous like Beyonce. UM I have seen images as Beyonce as child and you know Tina did not put her baby in weave. Well, until she was old enough to perform and start making her money. But that is another story.

This is just so wrong. Babies are not supposed to have hair this long. What if she feel asleep and started choking on it. I really hope this is fake. You know I love me some good weave here and there. But this just crosses a line. CPS should be on alert. What are your thoughts on this? Discuss.

Too much weave to handle

WOW so it has been over a month since my last post. For that I fail. So today I am giving you too much weave to handle. First this weave was emailed to me today from my friend Michael. He saw this by Best Buy in San Francisco on his way to work. There is certainly more than just weave going on here. I am wondering if the weave was outside of the box and maybe someone grabbed it out and realized it was not their color. Or maybe it was blowing by like a tumbleweave and it got caught up with all this trash. Either was I love that Michael sent it in.

Next we have this video that is a few weeks old. It has been circulating the Internet for a bit now. I have seen it a dozen times. But my dear friend Cecilio emailed it to me at randomweaves@hotmail.com and I realized I had to share

This queen had just won some gay title in Brazil. I think I don't understand what they are saying. And in an interview after she/he had won this other queen comes up and snatches her crown and weave all at once. It is kind of amazing. And is it me or does the jealous snatching queen look like Shannel from from RuPaul's Drag Race?

Next I would like to give snaps to Shelly. She sent me a text on Sunday that she had seen 2 weaves on the street on Sunday but could not stop and take a picture. I do love that when you think of weave you think of me. And I am also ashamed to admit. But sometimes I am so busy I don't have time to stop and smell the fresh weave and get a pic of all the weave I see.

Lastly, a reader of this blog (and I just thought my friends read this) sent in a link to his flickr gallery that features all the weave he sees in West Oakland. Thank you Brian. There certainly is a LOT of tumbleweave in West Oakland:

I think I may have to go there for a scouting trip.

When you think of Weave......

.........You think of me. Now that I am back to blogging more weaves. I am flattered that people think of me when they see hair weave. Or even in this case a wig. An old friend of mine, Rashelle was in Lisbon and saw this gem at an outdoor flea market. I have to state that this is a wig and not a weave. But I still love that she saw this, thought of me, and then took a picture and sent to me. I had to share. It's not so much a lost weave but a weave for sale. And Girl let me tell you I am not buying some used wig. But hey someone might. Happy Weavesday!

Crown Heights Weave

This here weave comes in all the way from Crown Heights in Brooklyn. Thank you Kathleen I can say that this is def. worth a five. Kudos to you and Lyndsey for spotting this gem. It could have almost been missed with all the leave tangled around it. If the wind would have picked this up it would have def been a tumble weave.

Weave for thought....

parking

I received this weave over the weekend from my friend AJ. With the caption should this weave get a ticket? While most of it is in the green zone some is in the red. So I say no ticket. But I have to say this is a nice hunk of weave. There is def a few braids in there. I wonder if this weave was pulled out cause it got caught in someones door? HMMM...weave for thought.
